My daughters recently initiated a family chat while we were on vacation. I was fun just to sit around and talk with each other after the children had gone to bed. No television allowed …..just looking at each other, listening, and sharing. They came up with some fun/silly questions but also some thought provoking questions. It was interesting and valuable to hear our loved ones answers. One question was, “Of all the jobs you have EVER had, which one has been the most enjoyable?” The answers came from family members whose jobs include and have included Metallurgical Engineer, Pediatrician, Christian Aid Worker in Africa, and Software Engineer. The answers all had one thing in common……each answer involved “My favorite job was _________ because I was able to help someone by doing ______.” The answers were all very specific. I have had many jobs in the past including working in my grandmother’s book store, being a first grade teacher, and of all the “jobs” that come with being an entrepreneur. My favorite job is……..
Designing Custom Gifts
My favorite job of all the jobs I’ve had is doing what I’m doing now…..designing custom gifts. I love it because I am able to HELP my clients. When someone asks me if I can create something I’ve never created before it is a challenge! I love the challenge, the research, and the process using my creativity. Custom gifts enable my clients to be unique and enable their resort or museum retail store to shine. It is satisfying to serve! Following are some examples of gift that I’ve recently created.
Limoges Style Box for Hotel Del Coronado
When Nomi Albano, the Merchandise Manager of The Hotel Del, asked if I could create a Limoges style box I was up for the challenge! The box needed to be made in the USA. I work with a Master Model Maker and a team of craftsman that include metal platers, polishers, and epoxy painters. Together we created this exquisite box. It has over 160 tiny windows! The gift box that I created is white and wrapped with a red grosgrain ribbon and seal of The Hotel Del. This unique Limoges box can only be purchased at The Hotel Del. Enamel & Silver Waldorf Astoria Medallion Gifts
I created an exquisite medallion made of pewter that is silver plated and then inlaid with black enamel. The model maker was able to capture this laurel wreath perfectly. This medallion is .75″ in diameter and we use it to embellish many custom gifts such as these wine bottle stoppers. Custom Marble Coasters with Art Image
Marble coasters are some of our best sellers. They work great with hot or cold drinks. I always give clients a screen sample so they can visualize how their logo or photo will look on the marble coasters. Each comes individually gift boxed. These coasters were created exclusively for The Brown Hotel.
