Pinterest videos and Instagram stories are a perfect pair. I have been sharing Instagram Stories for over a year. Many of them are videos. I have found the perfect way to share these to Pinterest.
1. Pinterest Videos and Instagram Stories Begin with Creation
The first step in the process of sharing Instagram Stories to Pinterest is to create a video within the Instagram Story platform. Simply go to your home page of Instagram and click on the camera icon in the top left. Record a 15 second short video. Be sure to save your video to your camera roll and add the story to Instagram.
This image is from the Instagram Story about the pelican plate that we are creating for The Historic New Orleans Collection. The stories only last 24 hours BUT I have saved it in the “Highlights” section and you will find in when you see the green highlight circle with the Museum icon. Click here to view the Classic Legacy Instagram account.
2. Upload Your Instagram Story Video To Google Drive
The photo below shows my Classic Legacy Instagram account. The logo is highlighted so you know there is a “story”. I then know that the story is live. Once my Instagram story video is on my phone I then upload that video Google Drive.
3. Download Instagram Story Video To Your Computer
Once the Instagram video is on Google Drive I then download the Instagram Story video to my computer. Make sure that you always download the MP4 video format. I find that works best on most other platforms.
4. Pinterest Videos Are Sourced From Instagram Stories
I have found that the vertical format of Instagram Stories is perfect for the vertical format of Pinterest. Once I have recorded and saved my Instagram Story now I have the perfect format for a Pinterest video! Simply go to Pinterest and upload your MP4 video to Pinterest. The uploading process to add a video is the same as adding a photo.
This is how my video which was originally an Instagram Story looks on Pinterest. Click here or on the photo above to view the video on Pinterest.
The photo above shows how the Pinterest video featuring the Napoleon gifts looks. It too was originally a video from my Instagram stories. Click here or on the photo above to view the 15 second video. These Napoleon gifts can be found in the gift store of The Nelson-Atkins Art Museum in Kansas City.
As a business owner I find that time is short many times to post on multiple social media platforms. This method of re purposing my Instagram Story and using the same video to create a video pin is a big time saver!
