This year the one that stands out that is the custom letter opener designed by Casey Johnson of The French Quarter Market. I enjoy the steps in creating custom gifts. The French Quarter Market began as the vision of Angela Carville Fluker in 2004. Her legacy continues. I know she would be proud of how the mission to provide one of a kind gifts that have a fleur-de-lis flair is executed. These are the steps that were taken to design this unique Krewe gift. This letter opener is the exclusive design of The French Quarter Market.
Sketch of Idea
To begin a custom gift design you just need a sketch! Casey had an idea…..did a rough sketch and also had the ability to use computer aided design. Ideas are born and then translated for the model maker. You don’t have to be an artist or computer expert…..just draw a rough idea of what you have in mind.
Casey also found additional elements of design that he liked. The celtic symbols and laurel wreaths provided the model maker even more direction.
Mold is Made & Model Created
Before production is begun the master model maker creates a model and mold. Just a few of the actual letter openers were produced. I wanted Casey to touch and feel this letter opener so he could approve the final production. This step is important so the buyer always knows exactly what the final product will look like.
Packaging and Presentation
It is also important to think about how the gift will be presented. I have boxes available that are perfect to hold letter openers. The box chosen was a shiny black box with a white “fluff” insert. It could be embellished as well but looks great being simply elegant!
