Custom metal medallions and charms can be created by Classic Legacy. We are known for our custom gifts. We create custom charms and medallions using photographic images that capture color and detail in many corporate images, photographs, paintings, and logos. Recently we have been asked if we can create metal or pewter medallions. I always like a challenge! The answer is yes we can and here are some things I’ve learned in this process.
Custom Metal Medallions that have a Simple Classic Design Work Best
We have found that when working with metal that designs that are simple and yet elegantly classic work the best. Some of the designs that we have done include the Waldorf Astoria Laurel Wreath, The Hotel Del Coronado Crown, and The Davenport Hotel Crest.
Steps in the Process of creating Custom Metal Medallions
- The first step in creating a custom medallion is providing us with your design. Our expert model maker uses your high-resolution jpg image as a guide to creating a mold and model.
- The initial set up for creating a custom metal medallion varies depending on the complexity of the design. The cost is a one-time fee and ranges from $350 to $450. This fee covers the design of the mold and the model.
- A small initial “run” is made to create your medallion. You can see the actual medallion before it is incorporated into gifts or any design. Medallions and charms can both be created using the same mold.
- We offer choices in the finish or your custom medallion. The two most common are our antique silver and our black enamel with silver. We like to listen to your ideas and consider what is best for your needs.
- The size of the charm and medallion can vary but the most popular size is 7/8″ size (which fits on the top of the wine bottle stopper and works well as a charm) The other larger size that we have done is 1.25″. Each size is a separate set up fee.
- The custom medallion is then used to create custom gifts! We use these medallions in many different designs. Please allow about 4 weeks for the process of creating a custom metal medallion.
