It is important for all of us to spend time with family. I’ve found that making cookies as a family bonds us and creates memories. This year we made some special cookies for Valentine’s Day. Matthew and Micah were my special helpers!
This is the recipe that my Mother used and I in turn have used for years. It is very easy and makes wonderful cookies that can easily be decorated. We just added white icing and colorful M & M candies.
1 cup Soft Butter
1/2 Cup Sugar
1 egg
1 t. Vanilla
3 Cups of Flour
1/2 t Baking Powder
Cream butter, sugar and egg and mix thoroughly. Add vanilla. Add sifted flour and baking powder mixture. Roll dough carefully in waxed paper and chill at least 2 hours. Roll in 1/8″ thickness. Use your favorite cookie cutter to create shapes. Bake on ungreased sheet for 5-7 minutes in 425 degree oven. Remove immediately to wire rack. Ice and add decorative candy.
May you use your creativity to be a blessing for your family.
